I find it strange that this is even a concern for people, but then again, I'm a country bumpkin and the chances of a home invasion are next to none. The only time it happens in this area is when drugs are involved, and the perps always know each other.

Having a gun would introduce more dangers than not having one, to be honest, although that might be a different story in <insert run-down urban ghetto here>.
