When it comes to guns, the only guns they can find without effort, are in the hands of the law abiding. so that's the ones they steal, constantly. This was a perfect storm for the mounties to pull a stunt like this.
There's very little actual consent in Canada. Dissatisfaction is rising and consent is shrinking.
There were not a lot of people leaving their guns in plain view. That is a bold faced lie. I would find it hard to believe there were any.
Especially on the kitchen table.
The penalties are very harsh for improper storage, up to and including a loss of all guns, gun prohibition, thousands and thousands of dollars to fight it, endless crown appeals and then poverty, maybe jail time. They just keep tacking on charges until you give up and accept the plea deal.
The gun laws are quite insane. And they do make them up as they go. One guy spent 100 days in jail for ordering a bb gun that he never received. Then they let him out with no charges. They're nuts. And accountable to no one.
