You are being fooled. Not only into thinking cops will use this correctly. Not even into thinking that cops can use this correctly, but into thinking that it has any use at all beyond legally shielding the same actions they are taking right now.

This is an area where you want a gun nut evaluating the situation. One of the common results of firing a handgun with an improper grip (say a hasty grip taken while trying to put a ping ball thingy on your gun in a tense situation) is a double firing of the weapon. Whoops. Non lethal to lethal with an extreme amount of reasonable doubt as to the intent.
