Whoever decided to press charges in the firstplace not only excells at dumbassery,and should also be removed from the decision making process.

As an added note. I just talked to my daughter who has a 1 year old baby and showed her this article. She then told me about an incident with her neighbor that happened last summer. The child was misbehaving out in the front yard. The mother spanked the child one time on the butt and told him to go inside. 30 minutes later the police showed up (because one of the neighbors called 911) with a CPS worker and the mother got arrested for child abuse and the child taken to CPS.

The father, who was at work at the time, ended up having to post bail. The charges were eventually dropped because the parent's lawyer got the report that there was no physical damage to the child, she only left a red mark, but they went thru hell because she spanked her child once.

My daughter told me everyone in the neighborhood is still trying to find out who reported it since the police or CPS won't disclose it.
