what is the point of this?

this map shows you were every residence that is licensed to own a handgun in some counties around new york. it lists the name of the owner.

what point does it serve? law abiding citizens go and get permits because that's what the law requires even if the law is wrong. they get their permit to engage in a right (which makes it not so much a right anymore) and then everyone gets told who these people are. where is privacy? is it to blacklist them? keep away from these houses, they got guns inside, could go off any moment

What it indirectly publish is also the places of people without guns.

Why the hell is it state law that it be public record if you own a gun? Jesus Christ this country is f**k up.

Our form of government depends on creating fear as a motivating factor for society. First it was communism, then terrorism and now it's your fellow citizens that should be feared.

If I was a robberer, I'd think: great, now I know which houses to case and which not to case.

Of course this has no bearing at all on the pro/anti gun debate, it's just another dumbass move by the media
