Why not just call yourself a materialist if you don't like atheist. It implies nonbelief in the supernatural but without the religious overtone.

When, ever since the enlightenment, did atheism become dirty?
It would on the contrary seem to be the opposite...spirituality has become a laughing stock of modern society.
