Only someone who hasn't read Marx could possibly say that he "was deeply enmeshed in Hegelian dialectics." The Left Hegelians (Feuerbach, for example) substantially departed from Hegel's idealism. Where Hegel is discernible in Marx is precisely where Marx is irrelevant. I also would hardly call Marx a philosopher proper.
