Well I guess my point is that their foundations are eroding. PC sales are down, but that doesn't have to be the case. I don't think they can convert to the Apple type of business model in time, because they have no experience at it. Microsoft doesn't design computers, it sells operating systems. Too much of their business relies upon other companies to do well... whereas Apple controls the entire process, from start to finish.
I think if they want to truly do this strategy, they will have to emulate Google, not Apple. This is kind of a step in the right direction, but I think a better step would be to buckle down on revolutionizing their OS and Office software. Get back to basics before they spread themselves even thinner.
