Wall e is indeed great. Pixar knows how to make movies both adults and kids can enjoy.
The first couple of seasons of sponge bob actually had great social satire, touching on everything from same sex marriage to corporate greed. Then the subtlety and wit dropped out and was replaced with outlandish nonsense like pretty much every (cartoon) series.
I'm glad I grew up when I did, at the height of the curve of classic Disney, darkwing duck, batman, Doug, bugs bunny still around, even watched some old popeye. There were missteps of course (reboot, failed experiments with 3d), but overall not bad.

Growing up with Beauty and the Beast, Aladdin and The Lion King in like a 3 year stretch during elementary school was f**k epic.
