"us" not being an acronym. it's kinda interesting but i don't think it's a real problem. even if people think about the basilisk, whatever robot overlord emerges isn't necessarily anything like that one and so serving him or not serving him before he emerges doesn't matter
the article talks abpout how some blog went through some self destruction because their utilitarianism takes them to the point where torturing someone for their entire life is LessWrong than everybody else getting a spec of dust in their eye, so when someone brought up The Basilisk they nearly committed seppuku
