vicky II is overwhelming because, well, of course, there's not much explaining what is what, and you need to have industry chains going on to build up to great power status to exert influence etc. my invasion of america by japan in 1911 or so had one battle in san francisco. it took years to complete the battle because of the reinforcements on both sides. but... that was warfare at the time, so i'm okay with it. plus when it finished i got 87% warscore and US was almost knocked off great power status and I took their westcoast from them. mexico even took advantage of the situation and seized texas, sneaky latinos
changes to EU4 means battling in mountains take forever and smaller defending forces can rape. i accidentally got involved in a mountian battle that took over a year. that shit shouldn't happen in 1701
