outside of widely known people (like u/f**k) unless you're in a small subreddit you don't really know anyone. there was that one guy with the jumper cables too, but his entire schtick relied on you not reading who he was, and his story inevitably ending with his dad beating him with jumper cables. reddit instead is mostly just a meme generator or for people who want to discuss a particular book or something. if you want to get into broad topics like politics, good luck having a rational discussion. heck good luck having a discussion, rational or otherwise. it's just downvoted to oblivion if you don't go with whatever the hivemind thinks
