I'm enraged. I can only hope this guy sues the f**k out of Monterey to the point where they have to let some officers go. Never f**k forget this is the type of shit that happens every day in low income communities. Although I'm sure people like professor will argue that "they must have done something wrong." People need to realize this isn't just unprofessional, these are sociopaths who have the power of life and liberty over us. This pig thought about drawing his weapon? Are you f**k kidding me? The man answers his f**k door and you escalate the situation to where YOU want to draw your weapon on an unarmed man? In his own f**k house? No doubt if this was some black kid with an attitude the officer would have 2 weeks off with pay for murdering the kid and the world would be none the wiser. I hate to say it but I wouldn't be to sad if one of these thugs tried this on the wrong redneck household and got a tough lesson on the second amendment for it.

This part I find particularly amusing, as if there was anything peaceful about this thug.

Similar thing happened to my eldest 2 nights ago. She was leaving the fast food place that she is a manager of with the deposit and was met outside the door by 5 cop cars. She was already on edge because she saw headlights in the parking lot and thought she might be being cased out for a robbery. When she walked out they hit their cherries and approached her, thankfully without their guns drawn. She had her coat on covering her uniform and had taken off her hat. She was able to direct them to the truck which had another work hat visible in it. They still followed her to the bank just to make sure she really wasn't robbing the place.

Things could have gone bad though had she done as she should have and kept her last employee there until she left considering he is an African who can barely speak English and not very clearly. His second language is Spanish and English is his third. He is a helluva a good guy and one of the few good workers they have and we don't think he would have been very comfortable seeing a woman, especially her, being messed with and upset. Not sure if he has learned how to deal with American cops either. I shutter to think what could have happened had a white chick and a black dude walked out of that store at 3 in the morning with a bag of money being confronted by 5 redneck cops with a Bring Your Own Gun to work mentality. Fortunately, she had White Privilege on her side working in her favor.

I did let her know that if she ever thinks for any reason she might be being cased to call the cops herself and have them meet her at the door to follow her to the bank. I did that once back in the early 90's when I did the same type of work because we had a particularly bad night of homeless guys coming in asking for waste and hanging out in the parking lot pestering customers for hand outs. f**k if my 5'2" female ass was gonna get killed over a couple thousand dollars.

As Eynon has said in the past, these types of things are rarely one sided. Rarely is one side SOLELY at fault. If a cop asks you for ID, you give it to him. It's his legal right to ask for ID.

That said, once the Captain had "shown" him his ID (even though he didn't "give" it), the cop should have backed off. Cop should have said, "Oh, sorry Captain. Someone reported a possible burglar, and I was checking it out. I really apologize for the intrusion. Would you mind handing my your ID so that I can call the dispatch and straighten this out? Won't be but a few minutes." Instead, he escalated it needlessly. 95% fault of the cop.
