one thing i do like this season is the high sparrow. i like the casting because johnathan pryce looks like pope francis. i think this was an excellent choice if only for this reason, but pryce is doing a great job with his character. pope francis acts similar about giving up "finery" and whatnot. but behind all that... there's still a fervently religious man, a man who actually believes what he says. for example today i read, humorously -- for a man who took the name Francis (of Assisi) -- that he thinks we spend too much money on pets and it's a serious issue. pryce is presenting a character that is completely sincere about everything he is planning on doing

yeah they just come off as gay haters on a warpath. would it have been difficult to include a little speech about the common man feeling the brunt of the impact in war etc etc?

as Com brought up one short scene (the bones of the clergy) or even a speech could have explained it. all we have now is a lame metaphor of modern american politics.
