Just saw Sicario yesterday. Absolutely phenomenal film, it's been a while since I've seen a movie that taut and engrossing.
They did a lot of low-light shooting in the movie (many scenes at close to twilight), and in the 4k environment of the theater, it really came through well. I think this is one of the first times I've seen a movie with enough technical expertise to shoot in twilight and have it be absolutely clear and detailed. Made it feel really realistic, and makes me excited about the continuing advance of camera technology. It's gonna open the door to some really cool possibilities in the near future.
I was excited to see the trailer for Revenant, as it had a lot of scenes with inventive lighting too (made all the more difficult by the fact that the whole movie was shot with natural lighting). Maybe this'll end up being a stylistic marker for films made in the mid-2010s, working with lighting in inventive and subtle ways.
