i think varys is going to have egg on his face. he's relying on a return of the targaryens, which i just don't see happening. it's not GRRM's style to just have daenerys get exactly what she;'s wanted from the first book with only minimal interference.
and like i said, baelish's plan focuses on the north of westeros. the chaos in book 5 with the return of raegar's son is all in the south. even if varys' plan starts coming together, baelish can execute his without any real interference.
