Both Belgian goals were either assisted or scored by subs. Jozy isn't a pure stud up front, but losing him hurt and was a primary reason we had to play Bradley upfront more and out of position. As you said, he did what was asked of him and of course his offensive efforts would be lackluster since he is a defensive midfielder. His defense this WC was top notch as usual.

The one thing that hurt us most was our inexperienced center backs. I believe they are all great players, but some of them made mistakes that never should happen as a CB. Belgiums first goal against us was because one of our guys fell over himself and then after getting back he bit into a players turn and dove in completely exposing the goal with Tim Howard. That whole play of falling over and diving in was just embarrassing for a center back. Not to mention against Portugal we handed an easy goal away from an awful clearance. I like them as players and they did good things, but they can't make those mistakes. Forwards miss shots and passes all the time, but defenders make a mistake and its game over. Theres a reason Vincent Kompany is a solid center back and a world class player, and its because he doesn't make mistakes like that when it matters. He isn't perfect, but its something we need to see change next world cup.

Honestly, I'm really excited for the next World Cup considering we have such a young squad that did a great job against the opposition. By far my favorite player of the tournament was Fabian Johnson, and losing him in the middle of the game was a huge reason why I think we lost, even tho his sub did a fantastic job.

They truly need an offensive minded CM that can setup plays and be a point guard for the offense. I loved the gameplan and approach they took in the games, it was the best way for them to compete, but in order to do so they had to play people out of position. Consistently in the last 2 games versus Belgium and Germany, they had players making runs and solid plays setup, but the passes to get them moving were piss poor and killed the play.
