The replacement refs have been a complete joke. Not just this game but every game. I don't know what pass interference is anymore. They never spot the ball right. They never get penalty yardage right. Hell, the Niners (my team) got 2 challenges after they had no more time outs. Teams keep getting 4 timeouts.

The whole thing is a giant joke. Players don't know what is being enforced and are testing the limits. How did that guy who hit Schaub not get ejected? He head-hunted him...

This abysmal weekend of officiating (saw lots of games at a bar, the officiating was unquestionably the worst ever for an entire day) fittingly ended with a poorly officiated game that was decided on one of the worst call you'll ever see. It was clearly an INT live and the ref closest to the play called it as such only to be overruled by someone looking at the ground.

The games have become too long, too confusing, and just suck. Bring back the real refs. I am going to stop watching soon if it doesn't change.

edit: FTR, I don't blame the refs. They're in an impossible spot. They're not meant to be here and I can't hate on them for missing the calls. This isn't their job and it is obvious they aren't prepared (and the NFL is the hardest sport to officiate, bar none). NFL should be ashamed.

That was definitely an interception.

2 problems the NFL has right now----1) yesterday, and now today 95% of the talk isn't about the games, it's about the officiating. 2) the players and coaches have absolutely NO respect for these replacement refs. It's like how an unruly classroom treats a substitute teacher.

I'm hearing today on the radio that this 'dispute' with the regular Refs is all over 3.3 million $.. The NFL is a 10 BILLION $ business.. $3.3 mil is lunch money..

Anyway I'm also hearing the NFL and the Refs have been meeting in NYC since late last night..

Probably because after last nights game Goodell got 8-10 calls from the owners telling him to fix this..

I've never seen this kind of uproar before over a blown call in any game for any sport. The closest I can think of is the Galarraga perfect game disaster when Joyce blew the call for the final out. Of course, this incident is not as isolated, and the narrative was already there before last night. Yesterday, before the game, I was talking to some people about how even if the replacement refs get better, every call will be scrutinized and the narrative will mean discontent going forward until the real refs are back. Well that was my take BEFORE last night's game. Now there is simply no way the replacement refs can maintain any sense of legitimacy among the fans, or even among many of the players and staffs.

Up until last night, my sense was that people would bitch and moan but in the end they'd just put up with it for as long as it takes until the real refs are back and then it would be mostly forgotten. Not anymore. This is now a major black eye for the image of the NFL.
