Serious question from a total soccer know-nothing: During the first half of the game, a guy from team USA collided with a guy from team Ghana and both fell to the ground. Then the Ghana player started choking the American player and a ref came in and started screaming at him. This went on for like 20 seconds and then the American player seemed to actually be defending the Ghana player to the ref, and then it just ended. It seems like you can get red carded for bumping into someone but this guy didn't even get a yellow card for choking another player. Also why did the American player appear to be defending him to the ref?

because when they went down the american player intentionally kicked the guy in the head with both his cleats. don't know why he was defending him but i imagine it was just good sportsmanship. the ghanian player wasn't yellow carded because the tackle was fair and the ref took the heat of the moment into consideration for grabbing the american players shirt and yelling at him.

Did he just grab the guy's shirt? That would make more sense. Looked to me like he put his hands around the American guys neck.

huge overreaction on mullers part to getting an arm near his face, so i think he was just belittling him. total dick move though.
