OK, that makes sense, then. At least, it makes sense for what I saw.
But, why even practice if the mob is given rules like "don't flank"? I can understand rules like "don't stab the guy with the shield". But, with a lack of coordination, a real mob is going to act like a fluid. It will flow forward until it meets resistance, then seek the most natural way around it. In that case, it's around the edges.
