Can any of you describe to me a scenario that prevents piracy of video games while not doing what the Xbox One is doing?

It's being reported that the daily authorization check for the Xbox one is kilobytes in size so it'd be incredibly easy to tether the console to your phone if you don't have an Internet connection or don't want to use it on the Xbox.
