On today's episode, we are turning one legendary posters home into a smart home. You know who that poster is, since there is only one legendary poster still on this form. It's Saz. Just to be clear.

Anyway I'm installing smart lights across my home today. And my I I mean an electrician, because I blew the fuse in the garage doing it myself. But its going to be sweet. I assume the plebeians on here don't have a smart home. Maybe NAB does, but I know his wife won't let him boss Alexa around so doubt he will be much help.

how did you blow a fuse installing smart lights?

and if you aren't changing a lightbulb and instead doing it the smart way -- at the switch -- all you need to do is hook up the new switch. which is pretty simple bud. neutral wire is the only real difference between that and a dumb switch.

Actually this shit costs like 100 bucks a switch to install. f**k that I'll do it myself. The Garage ones were weird because I have GFCI outlets and everything down there, turns out I didn't blow the fuse but the GFCI thing kept clicking off the outlets so they wouldn't work. Everything is fixed now but of course I have to install these f**k switches myself now. 1 down 18 to go.

I have the locks in. I have plugs on the plug shit. Lights now. Garage thing comes in a few days that should be simple. Then Im going to have this electrician bro come back to install the thermostat and doorbell. Then eventually smart shades but thats going to be a separate process.

Congrats on buying a home, although like Galt, I am flabbergasted at your idea of being able to maintain a home.

I have three thermostats, one for each level of the house, which also has while house control to manage the dampers to move the air around to where it needs to go.

Literally open up the thermostat that you bought, and read the simple instructions. It tells you what to connect to right in the instructions. Certified? No one cares, it's a thermostat.

I had an inspector look at my work after I put in entirely new circuits, it was $40 for him to look and give me a gold star. The major cost was new work has to be AFCI and GFCI to be up to code so it was like $50/breaker, but everything else was not expensive, well under $200 for 20 new outlets and 2 new circuits.

You should have just went with the argument "I've got more money than time, bitches" as the reason you're having some professional gouge your pocketbook
