You should be able to deduct the principal paid on student loans. The government should not be penalizing people for seeking higher education. There are tens of millions of uneducated people in the U.S. who are willing to work the crap jobs, literally billions of people in other countries who would love an opportunity to flip burgers here.
The world needs more educated people that are capable of starting companies, driving innovation and solving large problems.
