On a whim, me, the wife and our 11 YO Niece hop on the train and go to Manhattan.. We hit some of the usual sites.. Empire State Building... St. Pats.. Rockefeller Center.. Radio City...
And for lunch? We go to the Russian Tea Room... Not my 1st time, but the 1st for the other 2..
3 Chicken Kievs.. A few drinks... 1 Creme Brulee for dessert.. $230 for LUNCH.. Another $50 for the tip..
And then on the way back to Grand Central we stopped at the 'Beer Bar Restaurant'.. $24 for 2 beers..
We had a great time.. But Manhattan has truly become the Island for millionaires.
BTW The women know how to dress in NYC...

i luv creme brulee
ya manhattan is kinda expensive. stayed there for a night in july, had to bid $105 to get a room via priceline, got the sheraton in midtown. small rooms, wasnt as nice as most other sheratons in other parts of the country i can get for half that. at least you dont need car rental when you're there, so that cuts down on costs kinda. have never bothered eating expensive places in the city.

I've been down there a thousand times.. and I know the Russian Tea Room is a tourist trap.. But it is a BEAUTIFUL restaurant.. So I thought everyone would enjoy seeing it, and they did..
But damn...
And yeah the Creme Brulee was the best I ever had.. But at $18, it better be..

Yea dude Manhattan is the center of the world but it DEVASTATES your finances. I couldn't go out for drinks and not spend $100+. And you don't even pay rent there man, that's what really gets you.

I know a guy who lives in the Village (Greenwich) in a rent controlled apartment for $1000 a month and calls everybody else a loser because they dont have his lifestyle.
