I like deep dish, but good(not the chain restaurant crap) NY style pizza is better.. There's a place not too far from me, the guy, and now his son, been in business since 1972.. All they have are 2 ovens, they don't sell pasta, no dinners, no french fries, they sell nothing but to go pizza.. They make their own dough, and sauce.. They only sell to go pizza for 40+ years and he's still in business.. The pizza is that good.
BTW a few episodes later Stewart did make make peace with Chicago, and ended the skit by saying at least neither is California style pizza..LOL

Squash blossoms!! WTF is that? My God NO!!
Anyway can't argue about taste, people like what they like. A survey on what people like it pretty pointless. But most 'travelers' don't go to the best restaurants in any major city, except for maybe Las Vegas. Some of the best food I've ever had in large cities are off the travelers/tourist trap beaten path. I haven't been to the west coast in many moons, but it was like that years ago when I was out there. In the small out of the way places the food was much better.
Years ago 2 of the favorite places in Manhattan for tourists was The Russian Tearoom and Mama Leone's.. Both had very mediocre food, and overpriced.. But they were famous.

Yeah the famous spots, almost without exception, suck.
Remember though, Bill, our simple minded friends on the west coast are all about going to well known places, being seen, hopefully running into a celebrity, etc, so don't expect them to go get the concept of going off the beaten path.

Yeah I think it was over at PP we got into a discussion about ethnic foods here in the US and how most of the time they in no way resemble the foods in the 'native' country. Pizza in the US really doesn't resemble pizza from Italy at all. There are no fortune cookies in China. French toast isn't French(it actually maybe Italian..LOL) And on and on..
As for the video I can agree some with 3,4, and 5... But 2 is stupid.. It you can't tell the NYC skyline or tell NY from other cities you're either an idiot or blind.. And 1 goes back to my previous post.. A survey or opinions about any type of food is pointless.

Skyline? Yes. Average street? No.

The subway system in NYC is great. It's massive enough that yeah there's always some kind of modification to normal operations, but it's also comprehensive enough that there are always alternative routes too. And I don't know when that video was made but anyone with a smartphone need not be blindsided by service changes.
As for grocery stores, I have 3 within walking distance of me. A fancy one, a regular key foods, and a cheap one. Then there's plenty of bodegas as well but no need to rely on them.
I agree with #3 from that video but am also guilty of it myself.
