A good article against the practice of tipping in restaurants, arguing that it's not an effective system.
http://www.theguardian.com/commentisfre ... -economicsLet's do away with this bizzare practice and give waiting staff a living wage.

i agree to the no tipping.
i don't agree to "living wage", "minimum wage", or anything other than "a wage agreed upon by the employee and the employer"

Most people I know who work in the service industry prefer the tipping system. Unless they suck at their job. Also I don't wanna hear it from Europeans. It's already been scientifically proven you all are just cheapskates who don't wanna drop a few extra bucks when you visit the US.

I like tipping & minimum wage, both are good for the economy as a whole and for relatively low paid restaurant and bar staff.

I have more of a problem with paying $2.49 for a glass of Coke with my meal. 25% of the bill for a frigging soda. Highway robbery I tell ya. And then at 20% tip I have to pay an additional $0.48 for that same coke.
