Background. Went to Halloween party but didn't want to be in a costume. Was told I had to be in costume. My idea was going as something that make it so that I would never be required to wear a costume again. After the initial horror and shock, there was much laughing. However, I was not allowed to answer the door for the Trick or Treaters. My friends do have to live in that community, after all.

I dressed up like an old lady for the Cub Scout Halloween party using my Mom's bra, an old dress, wig, heels, and make-up when I was ten. My Dad gave me the stink-eye all night and I couldn't figure out why. My Mom later took me aside and said, "Your uncle J____ cross-dresses but is straight and your Dad thought some of his gene pool made it into you". After asking for and being told the definition of "cross-dressing" it all made perfect sense why Pops was so annoyed with my costume choice.
