One of my mom's friends called her up one night and asked her to go check on her son. He had made a weird phone call and had been acting strange for awhile. She was on vacation, so mom has to go over. He was 19 or so at the time, as I recall. My mom gets to the house, finds the front door open... found the kid in the basement, which he had flooded, and he was obviously going through some sort of psychological breakdown. She called his mom up and they had a quick talk and they decided to call in the psych people. He got institutionalized for a couple months... and one of the things that they learned is that he had been smoking alot of pot in the months prior, which drastically effected his mental illness and is probably why he had a breakdown.
He seems perfectly fine now... but no pot for him.

Yeah, I think a lot of marijuana...enthusiasts...are so over-reactionary to decades of lies and fearmongering about weed that many now insist that it can't do any harm to anyone which is simply not true. Freshman year a girl in our dorms had a similar kind of breakdown after smoking a bunch of weed. Now weed did not cause her disorder, but it brought it to a head. So for some people weed can be very dangerous. That doesn't mean it's a generally dangerous substance because it generally isn't, but I feel like a certain segment of the population almost bullies people over it.
