i like countries that aren't surprised by the ardennes push and encircled. pass.

i don't think germany would have been particular interested in mountin operation Sea Lion but would have been interested in peace. from the english perspective, germany just overrun several countries and captured 400k troops at dunkirk. i think they wouldve sue for peace to get them back.

it was a huge portion of their standing army and almost all their heavy equipment. it was a huge deal.

the main problem with barbarossa was that hitler thought he needed to destroy the red army, and he left moscow by itself, and gave enough time for his ally, japan, to sign an non aggression pact with USSR, which allowed troops from the far east to arrive in defense of moscow

without british and US support, the USSR would have fallen too

and with a victory at dunkirk, it would have been the end of the UK in WWII. it truly was victory out of jaws of defeat

you have it reversed. hitler was obsessed with taking hard targets like cities instead of bypassing them and destroying the red army. this is why army group south got bogged down and destroyed and why army grouup north and center never advanced past moscow..

either way though russia would have likely won. the country was just so god damn big and the germans were stretching their logistics badly by the time they reached kiev, let alone their final end point after barbarossa. and the japanese were garbage. khalkhyn gol showed they were absolutely no match for the soviets even during the height of the purges and before general mobilization.
