Bad decisions make good futures(?)

Sigmund Freud defined four parts of a psyche; the id, the ego, the superego and the stratego. The Stratego being the highest form of morality and scientific thinking.
If guns are not outlawed, the in-laws will have guns.

We didn't increase the number of fiber optic cables much compared to the 90's though. We just find faster converters at the ends of the cables. We could do that because the cables were already there.

But would the demand have been there if we didn't get a glimpse of a world of almost free internet?
Think of a world with almost free oil. What would we do then? I don't know, because our mind is limited by the current reality of not-almost-free oil. What if we never saw almost-free internet and our minds are limited by not-almost-free internet?
