I carry a small balance to generate a good credit rating...but I always pay off damn near most of the principal.

I'm a consigner on a couple loans for relatives. My credit is pretty good for my age. And I don't think I could do the auto, I like to micromanage stuff too much.

I use mint as well. It's alright, I just don't make enough money right now.

It also has to do with the rules of credit cards changing. I remember when I was young I was late making a payment. They charged a late payment fee that through me over limit(I had a tiny limit just to establish credit). My papa said they couldn't charge me a fee when it was the fee that threw me over. They had to wait 30 days until I the next due date to do that. I called the company, talked to a real person and they dropped the over limit fee. Now, they deliberately change the due date to earlier and set other traps and then an automated voice or some asshole in India replies, "Sucks to be you".
