I'm soooooo glad that tax dollars paid for my education. Would not want the loans. And I'm somebody who will actually make enough to pay them back. I'm not so against taking out loans to pay for school, but there's a disconnect between paying for school and then not being able to find work that allows you a payback period that's reasonable.
Boomer policies are screwing things pretty hard right now. Our country needs to change. Things just aren't the same, you can't expect the same economic policies that made sense 50 years ago to automatically work just the same now.
We need good public school options for students that are paid for by tax dollars. We need educated people to compete, globally. There is value in having students study philosophy, or history, even if it doesn't appear so at first glance because of employment statistics.
