Europeans Don't Understand Bond Markets

http://www.reuters.com/article/2012/09/ ... 9Z20120901...so basically, they want to reduce the spread on European bonds, making German bonds more, and PIIGS bonds less, lucrative. This will encourage investment in Germany, and discourage investment in the PIIGS.

Daktoria. What are you doing wasting your time on PCF. In one sentence, you have proved all the economists in Europe wrong. Decades of studies by Professors of economics have been undone by this one post. You must be some kind of genius, worthy of a Nobel prize.

I'm not sure I understand the endgame even with the ECB pledging unlimited three year bond purchases. The Euro has appreciated quite a bit which is just going to kill the periphery further. When will the ECB lower rates? Bonds affected government debt levels bit these governments have already imposed measures of austerity with manufacturing contracting in several states. Now everything else is feeding through, notably France needing to bail out its largest mortgage lender....
