Somebody had to bring them civilization. It didn't take, but then I think with the Iraq debacle we've seen how hard it is to civilize the uncivilized.

Actually Dylan I think Afghanistan is a better example. Irony: Iraq was pretty civilized before we showed up. Yeah, you had Saddam and his a-hole sons victimizing people at will, but it was a pretty modern, SECULAR middle eastern state.
Before we decided to squirt liberty all over them.
Afghanistan was hopeless from the get-go. Remember the joke back then? "We're going to bomb them INTO the Stone Age."
