bill, if all the democrats were behind it you'd only need a handful of republicans to fix the problem theoretically if the congress could come up with some plan to fix and implement it

I'm not going to get into a political BS discussion here, both sides are to blame..

10 years ago IF there was a major effort and push to fix the VA Bush probably could have got something done, sometimes he was good at getting both sides to compromise and talk.. But now, thanks mostly to the GOP's civil war that is impossible.. The Republicans can't agree among themselves let alone with anything Obama wants. The GOP doesn't govern anymore.. They only blame Obama and point fingers..

If I was just blaming the Republicans: A) I wouldn't have said both sides are to blame... B) I wouldn't have said IMO I think Bush could have got more done 10 years ago if this problem was highlighted then..C) I wouldn't have corrected Ben when he said this problem with the VA goes back to the Bush Admin. It has gone on much longer then the Bush Admin..

This bill that was just passed doesn't 'fix' the VA, it just allows Vets to go elsewhere for treatment and appointments.. It's a start, but it does little to address the VA's problems. The VA is now serving Men and Women from 4 generations of wars.. So either shut it down and let the government pay for the Vets to go to private doctors and facilities, OR give the VA enough money to fix their problems.. Just sending the overflow Vets to private doctors is just a Temp fix..

Plus of course we have to lessen the red tape and bureaucracy.. Easier said than done..

that is one part of it yes. it also is looking at improving staffing for VA facilities. together with another bill passed in april to increase VA facilities I think it's quite a good start. but you can continue to just be defeatist about it and recommend veterans commit seppeku since it'll never be fixed because the republicans are so fractured and ignore what they are doing

you were blaming the republicans. you said both were to blame then blamed the republicans of right now. the problem you're blaming republicans for is inability to fix it: republicans are fractured ergo it'll never get fixed. nevermind that none of that is true.

i linked something showing republicans in the house voting entirely for a bill to improve the VA, sans two abstentions, and democrats factually voting mostly against it. but it's the republicans who are fractured and can't do anything which is why you said, and i quote

"because of the civil war within the GOP in the House there's no way anything will get fixed.."
