Why don't reps want the Palestinians to be free?

I want to know the republican plan now that Israel has stated it will never ever allow the Palestinians to be free or have a state. Are republicans OK with 7 million people being forced to live under a brutal occupation and apartheid?

The Israel/Republican thing is actually a little scary as it is rooted in a Christian belief that protecting Israel is some kind of mandate from God.

You won't get as much of that from the politicians, but talk to some fundamentalist Christians about Israel and the idea of not supporting Israel and see what they say. Most likely it'll be something about the bride of Christ and the apocalypse. Scary shit. And a lot of the politicians believe it too. And those that don't, pander to it.

It's been my own experience that this is a belief of "popular" religion, as opposed to the clergy. Most of the evangelical theologians/seminarians I've spoken too about it are more nuanced over even skeptical on the belief.


ps....they tend to be quiet about that though because it's a popular opinion.
