Yeah, I agree that is generally a good thing. The only police officers in Britain with access to weapons are very highly trained specialists and their scope for cocking things up is much less than would be the case if every Constable Tom, Dick and Harry was armed with a gun. There would be a lot more innocent people being shot by mistake and this would change the public's view of the police for the worse IMHO.
