I can't disagree with the numbers but the dude's reading of them is a bit crass. Calling the last 70 years "the long peace" is a joke, not a funny one. Yes there have been less deaths from war/violence, but that's mostly because the pertinent world powers of those 70 years just got better at not getting killed themselves while they were busy stealing other nations shit or enforcing their various agendas upon them. Yes the numbers in those subjugate nations may also have gone down (although I doubt by as much as numbers in powerful nations) but what does that really mean ? It means that our various "gentle" citizenries tend to get offended by too many singed bodies on the TV while choking down our shitty TV dinners and that we've just got better at smacking the shit out of a nation's infrastructure while reducing casualties... which are after all..mildly inconvenient. Does this qualify as a long peace though ?
