Amazingly, I was one of the least offensive ones.

It was amazing in the Senate (state, not Fed). Whereas the House had high school aged kids as pages, and so many Reps that most of them didn't have a staff, the Senators each had a personal assistant for the floor, plus at least one assistant upstairs, if not a staff. The Senate aides were >70% young, hot, college-age girls. And, more than a half-dozen Senators were rumored to be "having relations" with them.

I now work with the wife of a former Senator. She tells of one Senator who had a wife at home (northern LA). But, when he was in BR, he had a mistress. He even had the audacity to occasionally show up at formal state functions with the mistress! Everyone knew it, and they had to make sure to keep the names straight so as to not call the wife by the mistress' name!

Yeah - these guys get drunk on power. The more time they spend out and away from their constituencies, the worse it gets.
