If it turned into a hot war it wouldn't just be the US against Russia... It would be some of Western Europe and some of Eastern Europe and the US against Russia.. The Eastern Europeans especially do NOT like or trust the Russians.

As for would the season matter.. I'm sure it would to some extent, but not nearly as much as it did in WW II and for Napoleon. Drones and todays air forces don't really care about the weather.

Logistics and an ability to fight might be hampered by weather more than anything else. And this would reflect on both sides in any confrontation.

We'd be better off if we went in through Alaska and seized Vladivostok. We'd have a much easier time supplying our troops in Eastern Siberia via our massive Pacific Rim infrastructure than the Russians with their easily blown up land-lines.

Also the open spaces of Siberia are ideally suited for our type of war-fare.

Have the NATO hold the line in the West while we f**k them in the ass out East.
