if there was widespread civil demonstrations in america demanding the resignation of the president, the idea that the military would take part and then depose the president and destroy the constitution is horrifying
the military is not the police. police handle these things. their purpose is to serve and protect the people. the military is to handle enemies of the state. if they do policing action then the enemies of the state are the people

The United States Military is sworn to serve the people of the United States and uphold the Constitution. If Comrade Obama started doing stuff counter to that, than the military not only should, but has a duty to overthrow the president and restore the Constitution. Not saying this is specifically analogous, but it's worth noting that in such an event the military is supposed to be on the side of the people.
