Mostly through my work I got to meet dozens of immigrants. From all over the world, Chinese, Vietnamese, Poles, Russians, Italians, South Americans. etc.. And in every single case their English sucked, BUT also in every single case if I got to know their families or meet their families their kids English was PERFECT.. Every time. The social pressure and peer pressure on the kids makes them learn English..
So this 'English 1st' issue is 99.9% nonsense and more fear mongering. But again, that's pretty much all they have.

I had a dream last night that I was ingesting massive amounts of cocaine. You guys just reminded me of it. I wasn't getting high or anything, I was just dumping small fistfuls of the stuff into my mouth and then washing it down with water and going about my day as normal.
