The American version of freedom of press has gotten kind of weird in recent years. You can literally spread lies about your opponent and never be persecuted for it... But a confidential source leaking you classified info? Illegal illegal.

Not to me. I think that a reporter-source relationship ought to be treated in the same way a doctor-client relationship is. Also that knowingly disseminating false information should result in a lawsuit or court injunction.

Sad, but very true
The way the US press treated Edward Snowden was really bizarre, and Obama's crackdown on whistleblowers is frankly appalling. In this regard, he has been worse than Bush ever was.
