I'm saying I've never seen this level of hysteria/rage and non-stop incitement before, and now seemingly always with appeals to... guns. Back in the 90s we would say this is real "Timothy McVeigh" shit.

Granted before Internet and cable news you didn't have such an opportunity to feed the seething masses such a steady diet and I believe right wing radio blew up in the late 80s if I'm not mistaken but damn... this is just spinning out of control and it's not going to end well.

Or perhaps this all has a purpose. Say, to drown out/divert attention from the reality that Obamacare is actually shaping up to be pretty much as advertised, despite years of hysteria about how it would be the end of America as we know it.

But I have no proof of that.

The biggest problem is its hard for anyone that isn't accomplished to get into the US legally. Mix that with the problems with the cartels in Mexico and you get the current mess of today.

The only real productive measure at this point is relaxing immigration laws and giving these people citizenship status. The Republicans don't want this for two reasons:

1. Mexicans
2. Can't hire illegal cheap labor any more

The solution I hear to the immigration problem is to build a giant fence and shoot anyone trying to cross. As though thats a real solution. You really think soldiers are going to line up to kill kids? Lemme tell ya, if you have people signing up for that, they need f**k psych evals and should probably never own a firearm. Ever.

Just f**k open that shit up and lets get rid of this "illegal" thing. I would prefer that Mexico fix their problems and get their country in order but that isn't likely to happen. A giant fence is going to cost more money and still be just as ineffective as the border is now. Amnesty/relaxed immigration is about the only solution short of the US going into Mexico and fixing their problems for them and we've seen how that kind of activity works out over the last 20 years...

You're absolutely right in that of course the GOP hasn't done anything about this because our dirty little secret is that we WANT all that cheap, illegal labor. I'm sure plenty of Dems are in on it too.

What's so alarming to me or what caught my eye is how that photo really militarized this and who are we calling our "enemy" now? Mexicans? Since when? Honduran teenagers? While the cartels are certainly scary where is anyone getting the idea that all these cartel guys are flooding over the border to wreak havoc here? We already HAVE plenty of drugs gangs and about 30 shootings a week in my city alone. Apparently the solution to everything is guns.

My brother-in-law is a Mexican immigrant now and even with a great job and being married to an American I can tell you it was not easy for him to finally get here.

The whole fence idea just reminds me of the Berlin Wall--at least that's how it's being positioned by these "patriot" types--a Berlin Wall with armed guards atop it, ready to shoot those who dare approach (some people in Michigan recently were suggesting we put mine fields at the border--yep, like the Berlin Wall).

As for the cartels, that is such a no-brain, easy fix as to how to solve that yet one we continue to flog to death decade after decade in prosecuting the useless and 100% failure that is the War on Drugs.
