I figure if shit goes on as is eventually a major western city will go up in a mushroom-cloud and the mid-east will suffer all sorts of terrible retaliation.

The immediate impulse would be to vaporize everything from Morocco to Kashmir.

But it wouldn't happen. No money in it. The West would probably bankrupt itself trying to retaliate in such a way as to leave the energy infrastructure intact.

it's kind of funny that the more they push us the more they turn us into the monster they think we are. and that is definitely bad news for the middle east.

hell, we're going to be there for the next 50 years because of 9/11. another major attack and we'll probably have NATO numbers of troops and aircraft permanently stationed in airbases around the region.

I say World War Two, because the ideology of Nazism was destroyed and completely de legitimised by that war, and ISIS reminds me of them due to their wild promises of bringing back Sunni pride, and scapegoating of minorities, and it will take a much larger conflict to dislodge them.

I'm surprised Turkey hasn't been dragged in militarily yet.
