OK, while I agree with the premise of Obama's deal (don't know the details, but I don't mind promising to reduce emissions over the next 10 years), let me point out something.

Mitch McConnell was elected from a coal-producing state. He was elected to serve the best interests of his constituents. These types of regulations will hurt his voters FAR more than people in, say, California. So, why should he support the measure, if it hurts his people?

Here's what I'd expect. Let's say we have 20 states that produce significant amounts of coal. Significant enough to where it would hurt them (lost jobs) more than help them (better health, etc.). So, it would come down to 20 states voting against, and 30 states voting for.

No way that'll happen, because each party is just going to do what the other party doesn't. But, I don't find it odd that Mitch opposes it.
