We have a far higher rate of hyperobesity than a few generations ago, so while I know some people have a body chemistry that naturally makes them gain a lot of weight, I think it's definitely a matter of diet and behavior. So much food this day is filled with sugar, corn syrup or the like. It's made food cheaper, but less filling and more fattening. People need to consider not only how much they eat, but what they're eating, and don't make assumptions, look at the nutritional info.
