study: removal of unemployment benefits created jobs

I think we can all agree that cutting unemployment will entice more people to look for jobs.

However, what would be especially telling is what happens to those people who lose unemployment benefits but haven't found a job. Do they go on welfare?

i can't find the study because i forget exactly which country it was for, but ithink it was in sweden. you can all take this with a grain of salt because i can't find the actual study and it was from a few years ago but it found that typically people find a job within 2 months of unemployment kicking in and stopping, but the 2 years or so in between nobody gets a job. but i also can't recall what it said about your other question (dropping into welfare instead of unemployment, which are pretty much the same thing anyway once it's at 2 years)

In Georgia the maximum unemployment benefit is $330 per week. When unemployment was going 99 weeks it was amazing how many people couldn't find a job. Now, that it's just 19 weeks here, all the sudden people are finding work. Why would people take just any job if they can sit on their ass and be paid? Just like when you seize wealth from those that earn it and pass it around to those that don't, where is the motivation to make good decisions and work hard?
