while you need it to use one on public property, or to secure a loan usually, you don't actually need a license (which you get after some tests) to buy a far more deadly thing, a car

my parents have about 30 firearms in their house. my sister has about 15 i think and her are mostly those evil "assault weapons". all the firearms are secured. my father has them in a safe he attached to the wall. i dunno what makes one a "gun nut", is it ownership? i grew up around guns and didn't see reckless and irresponsible acts, nor did it inflict me with msnbc levels of shrillness

According to the CDC there are between 14 and 19 thousand gun related injuries per year.
