Serious: The Iran Deal

This is great news, and a big step forward for US-Iran relations.

Of course there are many opponents of the deal, but all of them seem to fall in one of three camps.

1. People who want war with Iran
2. People who oppose everything Obama does, regardless of what it is
3. People who have no idea what is in the bill

I have yet to see any serious criticism of the bill.

The reason that people like Lindsey Graham and Bibi are going DEFCON 1 about this--while inexplicably telling their supporters this deal ALLOWS Iran to develop the nuke--is because it strips away the one pretense for war with Iran currently.

Now what are they going to use? That we don't like them?

The crap nations in the region--meaning the bottom-feeders like Saudi Arabia and their jihadist gift to the world--hate it because they're used to having their way in the region because they've always had the U.S. to back them and, when necessary, fight and die for them. Now it appears we could move towards normalizing relations with Iran, which has far more going for it than shit holes like Saudi Arabia--and they can't bear it.

War: it's what you want when you don't know how to govern.

Eynon is exactly right: soft power is going to win this thing. Not another freakin' invasion.

Anybody remember when Kane was talking about waning Saudi Arabian influence in the region and our pivot to Iran as the future power of the region?

Yeah....

Alternatively, I like that Obama is laying bare the other options.

Primarily....war. That's a popular policy these days. Try it out GOP.

Scott Walker was on local radio today....was bitching about iran...one of the things he was bitching about was iranian support for the Shia Militias in Iraq.
